I have been using the above noted company since October 2009 in 2 different apartment buildings for the extermination of bed bugs in our suites.
I had the "bed bug" problem 2 years ago in a 31-suite apartment building and at the time did not know anything about "heat" treatments. Therefore, I used the "standard" pest control companies that used their certain chemicals to get rid of bed bugs. After spending $18,000.00, inconveniencing tenants to do the "major prep" in their suite, evicting those tenants who did not comply with the "prep sheet" before the exterminator came, exterminating all hallways and common areas and every single suite in the building about 10 times, they still could not get rid of the bed bugs that initially had only infested 4 suites. In my opinion, the only thing all of the chemical treatments did was make the little critters run to the next suite (even though it was chemically treated) and make the tenants angry due to the amount of times they had to complete the prep.
I eventually legally vacated 8 suites (1 whole side of the bdg.). Once they were vacated I ended up spending money to replace all of the carpets, underlay and baseboards, which in turn, cost me another $10,000.. We "fogged" the suites first and then replaced and painted everything in them to get rid of the bed bugs. The bed bugs were gone for 2 years. They came back again due to used furniture being brought into the building.
This time, I studied up on all of the chemicals and then found out that the bed bugs can become immune to those chemicals after awhile. I then looked into the "sniffing dogs" that are supposed to be able to sniff out the bed bugs…I found out that was not 100%…I then came upon the "heat treatment" and studied about that. I phoned various apartment buildings in the area and in Ontario to ask them about the heat treatment and all of them said it was very successful. By the time I booked Thermotech to come out and do the heat treatment, I had 6 infested suites. Thermotech "heat treated" all of those suites within a 2-day period and I can honestly say the bed bugs have never come back into those suites. As well, they did not scatter into any of the suites surrounding the infested suites.
It has been 5 months now and no bed bugs. I personally will not use the chemical treatment or the "sniffing dogs". There is very little prep. for the tenants to do before Thermotech comes, it takes up to 5 hours and I did not have 1 tenant complaint regarding the minimal prep work they had to do and no tenant has vacated the building because of the bed bugs because we are using the heat treatment. Heat treatment it is the only thing I have found that truly works to get rid of bed bugs and their eggs. John and his employees were fantastic to deal with and worked with me to give us more ideas on how to deal with these tiny critters. Strathcona Place Residence recently experienced a major bedbug infestation problem which affected 21 suites. Thermotech Environmental Inc. uses a one stop heat system which is chemical free and also kills the eggs and larvae. Yes, please use our name. My apologies for the delay in responding as I've been in meetings all day. We've found the heat treatment to alleviate the problem immediately and the prep work is easier for our tenants to accomplish so the results are not so hit and miss. We have a large volume of folks with health issues where the repeated spraying of chemicals aggravates asthma and COPD. The heat treatment actually kills more than just the bed bugs so dust mites and other living/growing things are killed at the same time which provides a better health result for more fragile people. Have fun at your presentation!

Having my husband pass away less than a month before I discovered Bed Bugs in my home was absolutely awful and very stressful!! At the time, I didn't know whether I had just a few Bed Bugs or an infestation (I only had three Bed Bugs). Once I explained my sad situation to John at Thermotech, he ensured a thermo heat session was scheduled as soon as possible in my home which was GREATLY appreciated. The staff checked the house and could not find additional bugs and the session was effective…no Bed Bugs!! Thank you Thermotech!

It was a coincidence but I did speak with the girl living in 205 yesterday and asked her about the bugs. She said she has been vigilant in checking both the bed and the crib for bugs and hasn't found any since the treatment. She was very appreciative of the heat treatment and killing of the bugs. She questioned the validity of the spray as it didn't seem to stop the bugs at all. There has been some discussion about bed bugs on the real estate website of people being advised to use barrier sprays to contain the bugs, etc. After what I have experienced and the information that you have provided, the sprays seem to be a waste of money. In the long run although your service is more expensive it appears to stop the problem in its tracks. Which when all the costs are assessed perhaps your treatment is much cheaper.
